Well, I am ending this year with two smaller reviews covering my favorite genres when it comes not just to anime, but fiction/media in general. I have stated this before but it bears repeating, but I love fantasy and science fiction works. They can offer so much different and varied stories that it is hard not to get attached to. So, when it comes to fantasy, I am covering an entry in a particular well-known franchise:
So, last time I talked about the concept of ‘Boilerplate Entertainment’. Using Coyote Ragtime Show as an example, I demonstrate how it can serve as a baseline between the great/masterpiece media and the bad/flawed media that we encounter in our daily lives. On occasion, though, you will come across media that at first seem like this, but turn out to be so much more.
Alright, so I have covered science fiction quite a lot in my long illustrious venture of anime blogging. That is mainly down to it being one of my favorites of fiction and media, next to fantasy. Now, why you ask those two? Well because I find pieces of these two genres to be quite ripe with potential for original and/or interesting stories, characters and ideas. Science fiction especially so as it is all about speculation, to see what we could become not just as humans but society as well. But what makes the best science fiction?
